Fire Protection Engineer/Design Technician        Posted:  06/29/11

SMITH AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER

Position requires high quality design of wet-pipe, dry-pipe, and preaction sprinkler and standpipe systems. 

  Responsibilities

• Work under direction of Engineering Manager
• Determine design criteria for various design/build and plan/spec projects
• Design complete sprinkler and standpipe systems using AutoCAD software and hydraulic calculation program
• Coordinate design with other building trades
• Produce stock listings
• Interface with clients and other construction professionals
• Coordinate with project manager

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of fire sprinkler design experience
• Thorough knowledge of NFPA standards
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software
• Capable of performing hydraulic calculations
• Must work well with others
• Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
• Travel in CT, RI, & MA

 Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid drivers license
• NICET Certification or PE desired, but not required
