Job: Fire Protection Sprinkler System Designer Posted: 02/17/08
J.C. Cannistraro, LLC of Watertown, MA is distinguished as one of the largest mechanical contractors in the region. We design, fabricate and install HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
We are seeking talented professionals to join our growing Fire Protection Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating complete sets of engineering/shop drawings for approval by engineers and installation drawings for use in the field. This position requires a good working knowledge of sprinkler systems and construction, and experience in AutoCAD.
This fire protection designer handles projects from shop drawings and coordination through recording drawings and close-out, assists the project managers throughout the process, and assures that sprinkler systems meet codes and multiple insurance requirements.
Experience: Minimum three years prior experience in fire protection.
Qualifications:
 | A.S in associated field or equivalent experience |
| Proficiency in AutoCAD 2006; Strong computer and documentation skills; |
| Must have a thorough knowledge of NFPA codes and state codes |
| Must have a basic understanding of the construction process |
| Possess Excellent communication (written and verbal) and time management skills; ability to multi-task |
Must be able to:
| Conduct review of engineers’ drawings for code compliance |
| Coordinate with building, structure and other trades |
| Read, interpret and coordinate with building plans |
| Field measure existing conditions |
| Prepare shop drawings and hydraulic calculations |
| List material and prepare accurate drawings for the field |
| Attend coordination and project meetings. |
| Conduct field visits and reviews with foreman |
| Record drawings and close out, valve tags, Hydraulic Placards |
| Conduct hydrant flow tests |
| Generate RFIs |
| Review bulletins & changes |
| Prepare testing reports |
| Assist project managers and field personnel. |
| Professionally represent J.C. Cannistraro, LLC with all clients and contacts |
| Demonstrate excellent and people skills. |

Tyco Fire & Building Products, a division of Tyco International, is seeking 2 Technical Trainers to assist the Research & Development facility in Cranston, RI. This position will write training programs, including outlines, text, handouts. They will lecture internal & external training attendees on the proper use, application, installation, maintenance, and repair of industry related equipment, following outline, handouts and texts.
